HODC is honored to have been selected as one of 27 recipients for a grant from Rebuild Illinois for our Brummel Apts in Evanston. These funds, awarded under the new Limited Rehabilitation Preservation Program administered by Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), will be used to make needed improvements to this long-time HODC building, ensuring a safe and affordable home for our residents for the future.
“The Rebuild Illinois funds will make a huge impact for our tenants at Brummel Apts by allowing us to make needed improvements after more than 20 years of operations while protecting rent affordability. This will include exterior work such as tuck pointing, new roofing and replacing old windows with new energy efficient windows,” said Richard Koenig, Executive Director of HODC. “As the demand for affordable housing continues to grow, projects that preserve affordable housing such as this become so much more important. The impact of this project on the lives of those who live in Brummel will pay off for many years to come. We thank Governor Pritzker and the Illinois General Assembly for helping to ensure that low-income families, seniors and other vulnerable households continue to have access to housing that is safe, healthy and well-maintained.”
