HODC is a community-based nonprofit developer of affordable housing that has served north suburban Chicagoland for 40 years.

We serve families, seniors, persons with disabilities, individuals and local workers in north suburban Cook, Lake and McHenry Counties.

Housing Development

HODC’s ongoing goal is to preserve or increase the amount of affordable housing available. We purchase, develop, and rehabilitate or construct both rental and owner-occupied affordable housing. Completed developments have been for families, seniors and supportive housing for those who are experiencing housing instability or living with a disability.

Property Management

HODC’s property management department provides flexible and efficient property management services for over 400 apartments and homes. Our Service Coordinators connect tenants with local support services as needed. We manage rental units owned by HODC or developed in partnership with or for other entities, and properties owned by third parties.

Housing Counseling

HODC is a HUD approved housing counseling agency. Homeowners who are aged 62 and older may receive in person counseling to determine if a reverse mortgage is right for them. HODC also partners with local employers to develop employer-assisted housing programs that help retain workers.

Community Education

HODC participates in local, regional and statewide coalitions and campaigns that promote expansion of affordable housing options. We offer affordable housing presentations to organizations and businesses.
