HODC is committed to providing our residents with the tools and resources they need to thrive. One way we do this is by partnering with local organizations to offer valuable programs and services. Recently, our Service Coordinators worked to bring the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) to several of our properties in Arlington Heights, Broadview, Evanston and Palatine, providing residents with essential information about public transportation options and assistance with enrollment in various programs.

A Day of Empowerment

The RTA representatives offered residents a comprehensive overview of their services. The presentation covered a wide range of topics, including the new Uber program, free rides and reduced fares for seniors and disabled individuals, travel training, accessibility on transit, and travel safety tips.

What made this event truly special was the on-the-spot assistance provided by the RTA staff. Residents were able to complete applications, check the status of applications they had already submitted, and process paperwork for various programs. This streamlined approach saved residents time and effort, making the process as smooth as possible.

Making a Difference at a Personal Level

The impact of the RTA visits was immediately apparent. One resident, who hadn’t had a bus card since 2018, was able to successfully renew it and qualify for a reduced fare card. Another resident lost their transit card a few months ago but was able to obtain a replacement on the spot.

Perhaps the most heartwarming story comes from a resident who was spending a significant amount of money on ride-sharing services. With the help of the RTA representative and our Service Coordinator, they were able to obtain a reduced fare card and enroll in the travel training program, empowering them to independently navigate the public transportation system.

A Commitment to Resident Success

These are just a few examples of how our Service Coordinators are working tirelessly to improve the lives of our residents. By partnering with organizations like the RTA, we are able to provide essential resources and support that empower individuals to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

We are incredibly proud of the work our Service Coordinators do to create a positive and supportive living environment for all of our residents.
