Jean Cleland

Cleland Place is named after Jean Cleland (1923 – 2013), a long-time Wilmette resident and HODC founding board member.

For more than 50 years, Jean Cleland worked to make Wilmette more diverse and inclusive. Driven by her strong faith and keen sense of fair play, she advocated for civil rights and affordable housing.

Cleland Place embodies Jean’s values and strengthens the community she loved.
