A home is more than four walls. It is a place where people can feel welcomed, inspired, and proud of where they live.
That is why we are so thankful to photographer R. Scott McNeill for donating his photography to HODC. His artwork is displayed throughout Poupard Place in Northbrook, HODC’s supportive housing community for individuals and families living with a disability.
Last week, Scott and his wife, Bonnie, visited the building to see how his artwork has become part of the community. As they walked through the halls, they saw his photographs displayed throughout the building, adding warmth and beauty to the spaces residents call home.
During the tour, an HODC staff member shared something a resident had said about the artwork:
“I get so much joy walking out of my apartment and seeing these photos.”
Hearing how much the artwork means to residents was a special moment. Art can do more than brighten a wall. It can lift someone’s spirits, create a sense of belonging, and help make a house feel like home.
