Building a Brighter Future for Affordable Housing in Chicago’s Northern Suburbs

We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of HODC’s Key Campaign! Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we have surpassed our fundraising goal of $500,000. These critical funds will be used to cover predevelopment costs for new affordable housing projects in Chicago’s northern suburbs. The funds raised through the Key Campaign will directly impact the lives of low- and moderate-income families by empowering HODC to move forward with new affordable housing projects more quickly and efficiently.

“The success of the Key Campaign is a testament to the incredible generosity of our donors and their unwavering commitment to creating a more equitable future for our communities,” said HODC Board President Bill Sholten. “These funds will allow us to move forward with vital predevelopment work that ensures the creation of safe, decent, and affordable housing options for low- and moderate-income families.”

Key Campaign Reaches New Milestones

The Key Campaign achieved several important milestones:

  • Surpassed our fundraising goal: We are grateful to all of our donors for their contributions, with a special thanks to the following lead donors whose leadership and commitment have been instrumental in our success:
    • LeAnn Pope and Clyde McGregor
    • Pete Vilim and The Coure e Mani Foundation
    • Susan and Ken Morrison
    • Keith and Suzanne Ross
  • 100% participation from HODC Board Members: The entire HODC Board of Directors actively participated in the campaign, demonstrating their dedication to our mission.
  • Growth in our donor base: We welcomed many new donors who joined our mission.

A Thank-You Celebration

On October 1st, we hosted a small party to express our gratitude to the donors who supported the Key Campaign. The event was held at HODC’s Cleland Place in Wilmette. We were honored to be joined by members of the Cleland Family, who shared the legacy of their mother, Jean Cleland, for whom Cleland Place is named. Jean Cleland’s commitment to affordable housing and her passion for serving the community inspired the creation of Cleland Place and continues to motivate our work at HODC.

During the party, donors had the opportunity to see and hear firsthand how their support will help to build a brighter future for our community. We shared plans for upcoming affordable housing projects and discussed the specific ways in which their contributions will make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

Looking Ahead

The success of the Key Campaign is a major step forward in our ongoing mission to increase the supply of affordable housing in the region. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to this campaign, and we look forward to continuing to build a brighter future for our communities.
