Behind every resident served at Housing Opportunity, there is a team of property management staff working hard to keep our buildings running well. That work depends on having the right tools and information to keep our communities running well.
For years, accessing property management information meant gathering data from multiple sources and spending time on manual processes. We knew there had to be a better way.
We found it through a local connection with Baich Consulting, a local firm specializing in data strategy and business intelligence. Introduced through the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce, the partnership began with a conversation about how technology could help Housing Opportunity work more efficiently and better serve our residents.
Becca and Danielle at Baich Consulting took the time to understand not just our data needs, but our people. They listened to what our staff needed most: clarity, timely information, and confidence in the numbers.
What they built delivered all three.
One View. Current Data. Real-Time Results.
Using Microsoft Power BI, Baich Consulting developed a custom performance dashboard that brings important property management information together in one place. It will be an essential tool for our staff, leadership, and Board of Directors as Housing Opportunity continues to grow its portfolio of affordable housing communities.
Here is what it means for our team:
Everything in one place. Staff will be able to view key information, including occupancy, financials, and maintenance trends, without pulling reports from multiple sources.
Up-to-date information. Our team can access current data when they need it, helping them make more timely and informed decisions.
A clearer picture across buildings. Comparing information across properties will make it easier to identify patterns, spot issues early, and direct resources where they are needed most.
More time for what matters. Hours previously spent gathering and reviewing data will now be spent supporting residents and maintaining our properties.
For Housing Opportunity, this is a significant step forward.
“It will give us a clear picture,” said John Kuhnen, Housing Opportunity’s Deputy Director. “We will be able see what is happening across all of our buildings, or in individual buildings, in a way that helps us stay on top of things. Most importantly, it will give our team more time to focus on the people we serve.”
While the dashboard is built with technology, its purpose is deeply human.
Every hour saved through greater efficiency is another opportunity to strengthen our communities, support our residents, and ensure our affordable housing remains safe, stable, and well-managed.
Strong Communities Are Built Through Collaboration
